Weston new Dayton Head Coach

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC is happy to announce Matthew Weston as the new Head Coach for the Men’s professional team.

Weston led his first session today and will be on the bench the first time this weekend when the team travels to Charleston and Wilmington for 2 games in 2 days.

“I am excited with the challenge of being offered the Head coaching position with the Dayton Dutch Lions.” Weston said. “With 7 games to go and lots to play for, this gives us all an opportunity to put pride in the shirt, play attractive soccer & finish the season on a high. After speaking with Sid van Druenen, I felt that this was a great opportunity to come in and work with a great group of players & staff and will begin work right away”.

Weston is not new to the league as he has experience as a Head Coach for FC New York (2010) and VSI Tampa Bay (2013). This season he was active as the Technical Director for the PDL club Ocala Stampede that reached the final four of the 2014 PDL season.

“We are happy and excited to welcome Matt to the club” said Dayton’s Technical Manager Sid van Druenen. “He brings a wealth of experience, not only as a coach but also as a player. I have spoken to Matt often in the last couple of days and am sure he is the right fit for our club.” We appreciate The Ocala Stampede organization for understanding the importance of getting Matt on the field right away”

The Dayton Dutch Lions travel to Charleston to face the Charleston Battery on Friday the 8th of August and will then continue on the road to face Wilmington on Saturday the 9th. Both games are at 7:30pm and can be seen live on the clubs YouTube page.

Be sure to come out and show your support for Coach Weston’s first home game on August 23rd, kick off is at 7:00pm at the DOC stadium at West Carrollton High School.
