DDL Men Sign Williams and Garner

DAYTON, OH - The next two players that committed to the Dayton Dutch Lions FC are newcomers goalie Matt Williams and forward Eli Garner. The Dayton Dutch Lions FC are proud to announce the signing of the two experienced assets to the 2012 USL PRO team.

The 24-year old Williams (left)  will defend the orange team's goal the coming season. Last year he played for the PDL team Portland Phoenix, and came out for the USL Pro team Wilmington Hammerheads during the last two months of 2011. He performed 19 times for the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2010, and played in all the minutes possible.

Matt Williams went to highschool at All-state, All-Western Maine selected as a senior at Cheverus High School. The native American from Portland, Maine wrote down, amongst other honors, 68 saves along with the school record 0.68 GAA.

Head Coach Ivar van Dinteren is very happy with the signing of Williams; "Last year Williams had caught my eye already, but I couldn't sign him because we had contracted two goalies at the time. We are proud to have him on the team this year."

Clinical finisher Eli Garner (right) stood out in Tampa at the USL Pro Combine. The attacker from Hillsborough N.C. is known for the way he seeks the goal and his ability to finish.

Ivar van Dinteren found what he was missing amongst the Lions. "I saw him play at the try-out in Tampa, FL. Eli Garner has the excact skills that we were missing on the team. He is dangerous in front of the goal, and I am confident that Garner can make a huge difference in scoring the goals after building up the Dutch way."
