Dayton, April 24 2012

One of Holland’s top promising coaches, Robert Maaskant, has signed an agreement to join the Dutch Lions FC organization per May 1 2012. Maaskant will serve as an Advisor for the Dayton Dutch Lions FC and as Head Coach for the club’s franchise in Texas.

Maaskant was recently coach for Wisla Krakow in Poland, where he won the Championship in 2011 qualifying for the preliminary rounds of the Champions League and group stage of the Europa League. Before that he was coach at Dutch Premier League clubs RBC Roosendaal, Go Ahead Eagles, Willem II and NAC Breda. With Willem II he reached the Cup Final.

President Mike Mossel commented on the news: “it is fantastic that The Dutch Lions FC are able to sign a top coach like Robert Maaskant. He is known as a quality coach in Holland and the fact that we are able to sign him shows that our organization is well perceived. His signing will give the club a big push marketing wise but will also bring (Champions League) experience, knowledge and a high level network to both Dayton and Houston. I have to congratulate Matty Kremer and Cor van Hoeven of the Texas Dutch Lions FC for their work in this matter and am sure he and his family will not only like it here but also that he will be very successful as well.”
