DDL FC starts work on top grass fields at WC HS April 27

Dayton Dutch Lions FC starts work on top grass fields at West Carrollton HS. Owners and School Officials put first shovel in the ground April 27 at 2pm

The owners of the Dayton Dutch Lions FC and the officials of the West Carrollton High School will be opening the ground work on the prestigious Dayton Dutch Lions FC youth complex today, Friday April 27 at 2pm.

The project consists of putting in four new grass fields including drainage and irrigation. The grass is the same grass that is used in the Columbus Crew stadium making them one of the top fields in the region. The ground work should take six weeks. The club is looking to start playing at the fields in the Fall 2012 season when the Youth Academy starts their 2012-2013 season. The opening game of the Men’s Pro team against the High School team (with alumni) is scheduled August 3 2012.

President Mike Mossel commented on the start: “it’s is very exciting to start working on a project we have looked for since we began our club in Dayton 2,5 years ago. We strongly believe Dayton can become a top market for soccer talents. The numbers are certainly big enough but you need good fields in order to develop your skills to a level that is good enough to become pro. Besides that you need quality coaching whole year round as well. With our program in close partnership with Dutch 2010 Premier League Champions FC Twente, our coaching staff (mainly Dutch coaches - we have 10 at this moment) and now the top fields at West Carrollton, I believe we can offer everything needed to develop kids as much as possible.”

The official “first shovel” will be done at 2pm after a small introduction of both the Dayton Dutch Lions FC and the West Carrollton High School and will be at the grass fields behind the main stand. The “ceremony” is open the all the press, academy people, sponsors, investors and fans.
