DDL FC looking to upset Rhinos

Dayton, May 16 2012

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC have a tough schedule ahead the coming week playing 3 games in 5 games. Friday they face the Rochester Rhinos. After the game the team will drive in their sleeper bus to Harrisburg  where they play the City Islanders on Saturday night. After that game the Lions will be home for one day leaving again to Chicago to play the Chicago Fire PDL in the US Open Cup round 2.

Rochester Rhinos

The Rhinos have had a perfect start of the season winning all 6 games with 1-0. The Lions played them at home two weeks ago and although the team deserved at least one point the Rhinos took all three points (1-0 score) back home due to a communication error in the back. Coach Ivar van Dinteren looks towards the upcoming game: “Rochester is a tough team to beat. Not that they play great soccer but they are very well organized and have a strong defense making it difficult to get through and play the counterattack very well as soon as you loose the ball. But if our game at home proved something it is that we cancertainly play against them and therefore we are confident to bring back at least one point.”

Saturday the Lions play Harrisburg City islanders. The Islanders currently have 5 points after 4 games (1-2-1). “Last year the Islanders had a fantastic year. It seems that this year they have a little less quality but are still a good team. We will be coming off a game the night before but last year proved that we often played our better games then. I believe in both games we need to keep organized as we have been all season and with Priestley returning hopefully create some more offensive threat to score goals. Because that is what we have been missing this year. Not always a matter of creating chances because last week we had two clear chances to score and get a 1-0 lead but we could not.” Van Dinteren said.

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC is currently 0-3-2. After returning from the 3 game trip the Lions play at home against Rochester Rhinos again on Saturday May 26. Tickets for the game can be purchased at www.dutchlionsfc.com.
