2012-2013 DDL Youth Academy taking shape after tryouts

First four days of tryouts promising for growth

Dayton, June 1 2012

After four days of tryouts (twice the boys and twice the girls) the spots on the Dutch Lions FC Youth Academy teams are rapidly being filled. Same as after the first year of the club its seems that over 90% of the players from the 2011-2012 season are returning.

The Dutch Lions FC organized the tryouts in it's typical format by playing on astro turf and dividing the field in 6 parts: speed and agility, skills, passing, 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2, position game and scrimmage. All players are evaluated on these aspects by the DL Coaches and the professional players (Men's with the boys and Women's with the girls). While the players did the six time 10 minute sessions either Academy Manager Tommy Spijkers or President Mike Mossel held a presentation for the parents on the club's history, structure and (Dutch) development philosophy. Before the tryout each player that registered received the Dutch Lions Academy Handbook.

Academy Manager Tommy Spijkers commented on the tryouts sofar: "I am very happy to see that all the players step off the field with a smile on their face and their confirmation that they learned something today. The feedback I received from the parents on the try out set up and our program has been phenomenal. we keep hearing it is so different than other clubs. I am very confident that we have made a good step again already to a great season. I hope more kids will come on Monday and Tuesday since we still have a few spots open".

The Dutch Lions FC has teams in the ages U6-U20 for both boys and girls. In case you are interested in joining please register online
