Game Report:

With the league championship on the line and in front of a good orange crowd the team put on a good show.  Once again the U11-Koen team out shot and defensively dominated the opponents to bring home the 3 points.

In the first half the Lions dominated the possession and made good dribbling runs down the sidelines with good passes to the middle.  This led to 8 shots on goal with 2 of those going to the back of the net.  Our defense led by Adam George kept the shots down to a minimum with only 1 shot on goal.  Aaron Brown and Mike Smith made life hard on the opponents wingers while goalie Joshua Schutte kept the ball out of the net.  The first goal was an own goal scored off a corner kick by Matthew Oreskovich.  The second goal was scored by Samuel Reid from the far rt side, kicking it over the goalie.  One weakness we showed was being caught offsides 2 times.

The second half we didn't slow down as we had in previous games.  This intensity led to 12 shots on goal with 6 of those scoring points.  The opponents also didn't slow down.  They had 4 shots on goal but our defense kept all but 1 of those from going in for points, as usual goalie Joshua made several excellent saves. Matchew scored a goal by dribbling down the middle and shooting it to the left side.  The opponents scored another own goal for us after Samuel's cross bounced off and went in.  The 5th goal was after a cross by Aaron Joyner and Samuel slotted it into the left corner.  The 6th goal came after Aaron's shot bounced off a defender and to the feet of Matchew, who kicked it in.  The last two goals were by Samuel who kicked one from distance on the right side and another in-the-box rocket after a pass from Philo Antoun.

The U11-Koen team would like to thank all those that encouraged them throughout the season and helping us to become champions once again. This is an unique achievement for the team and for our academy with winning  2 championships in a row!
