Lions pick up point in Orlando in front of 9000

Late equalizer by Holowaty gives Dayton Dutch Lions FC first point on last weekend road trip.

Orlando, August 18 2012 - The Dayton Dutch Lions FC will be the only team in the League that Orlando could not beat this year. After a tie at home the Lions were able to keep Orlando at 1-1 in front of 9000 at the Citrus Bowl. The game seemed to end in a hard fought 0-0 result until the 86th minute when a Kevin Molino cross was unluckily shot in own goal by defender Metin Copier. However the Lions tied it up 1-1 when a long effort by Daniel Holowaty was let loose by goalie Miguel Gallardo to see the ball bounce off the post just across the goal line.

Head Coach Ivar van Dinteren on the result: "although Orlando dominated the game from the beginning we stayed very organized and when they did get through Matt Williams had some great saves. Today we got a point we did not expect but on the other hand we have had about 5 games we gave away points in stoppage time that it feels good to be on the other side for a change".

The Lions will travel today to Charleston for their last game of the season. The game will be streamed live on www.usllive.com.
