Former DDL player signs professional contract in the Netherlands

Former Wright State student and Dayton Dutch Lions player, Brittany Persaud, signed a 1 year contract with professional soccer club, Ado den Haag, in the Netherlands.

Brittany played for the Dayton Dutch Lions Women’s team in the 2011 season. After a trial period in Sweden, where Brittany stated to have learned a lot, Dayton Dutch Lions helped her to sign a contract with Ado den Haag, in the Netherlands.

Brittany’s first impressions of the Netherlands “are great so far, I like it a lot, the people are very nice and welcoming. The level of play is pretty good, it is very technical and tactical which I like a lot. The girls on the team are great”

About her experiences with the Dayton Dutch Lions, Brittany stated:

“The Dutch Lions Organization is a very good program, I feel, with the style of soccer they are trying to teach kids.  A lot of American style soccer is based off athleticism and run, I feel like, and not enough on the technical and tactical skill of players. Athleticism and fitness is very important but you need the technical side of the game in your play as well if you want to make it to the top.  I think the Dutch lions program is trying to implement that style of play into their programs which is great and very important.  It can help players get abroad by helping them gain that style of play, because overseas the game is much more technical than in the US. And they have the right people who are willing to help you out.  I am thankful for Erik Tammer, helping me get on the team I am on now, because so far I like it a lot, and think it is a good fit for me.”

The Dayton Dutch Lions organization wants to wish Brittany all the luck and success with this new experience abroad.
