Former DDL FC players: Evan Schwartz

Former DDL FC players: Evan Schwartz

Starting this month we will update you on what is happening with some of the previous Dayton Dutch Lions FC players. The first is Evan Schwartz, who was the starting right fullback the first two years of the club. Last year he transferred to play in Iceland for Vikingur R in the 1st Division.

How is Iceland?

Evan: Iceland has been good. I live in Reykjavik , the capital of Iceland. It might be small coming from places like New York where I lived but there is a lot to do and see so no complaints! Vikingur R is one of the bigger clubs and since I played in Iceland before I came to the Dutch Lions FC it was easy to return. Football as they call it here (opposed to soccer) is very big and if you do well you can make it seem like a small place because you know everyone.

How did the season go?

Evan: The season is just over, ending late September. I  have been playing for Vikingur R, we have been in the hunt for a play off position until the last games but due to injuries we did not make that. We finished in the middle of the table.

What position did you play?

Evan: I played the beginning of the season as a right back and the rest as a right winger. I ended up with 3 goals and 10 assists so i can look back on a good season.

What is next?

Evan: I do not know at this point. I have interest from teams here in Iceland as well as Denmark, Germany and of course back in the States. Perhaps the Lions again? I hope the club has a busy off season and that all the fans are well.
