The Dayton Dutch Lions FC is happy to announce the signings off former Urbana University’s Abby Pearson and the Dayton University’s center back duo, Meghan Sharer and Sarah Senoyuit for the 2013 W-League season.
Abby Pearson, from Xenia Ohio, was a 4 year starter for Urbana University and became the first Blue Knight women's soccer player to earn NCAA D-II Daktronics All-Midwest Region honors after the season. Pearson also earned First Team All-Conference honors in the G-MAC, picked up All-Ohio First Team honors, led the G-MAC in assists (10), and finished second in points (22) and fifth in goals (6). Pearson led her squad in goals, assists, points, shots (45), shots on goal (31), and shots on goal percentage. Finished her career 2nd in game-winning assists (8), 3rd in assists (20), 5th in game-winning goals (5), 6th in shots (125), 8th in points (38) and 10th in goals (9), finishing in the Top 20 in the nation in assists and assists per game.
Coach van Druenen about Pearson: “Wanting to play in a attacking formation with a lot of action over the wings it is important to have players on the wing that are not only fast but also technical and dangerous for the opponents defenders, and I think that with Abby we have exactly that. I expect her to be the kind of player that can make a difference and decide games for us.”
Sarah Senoyuit from Perkasie Pennsylvania and Meghan Sharer from Oregon Ohio have been the center backs for the University of Dayton for the last 2 seasons.
Sharer played 55 games (1 assist) in the last 3 seasons.
Senoyuit totalized 62 games (1 goal and 3 assists) in the same amount of time.
Coach van Druenen about Senoyuit and Sharer: ”I am happy to have Sarah and Meghan joining
the team, both are strong athletes and have the soccer skills I look for in my center backs. They play in strong and competitive college program and are used to high level soccer games and competition. After playing together for 3 years now they know what to expect from each other and I expect that to work in our advantage.”
The Dayton Dutch Lions W-League team will play their first regular season game on the 25th of May at Beavercreek High School against the Charlotte Lady Eagles. On May 18 and 19 the club will host the 2013 DDL Women’s Cup at Beavercreek High School, with the participation of the Toronto Lady Lynx, Ohio Galaxies and the Cincinnati Lady Saints.
