The Dayton Dutch Lions FC are happy to announce the signings of Abby Skoda, Tracy Rymph and Erika Kay for the 2013 W-League season.
Abby Skoda is a graduate from Capital University (’08) where she was a 4 year starter, captain of the team and won one conference and two tournament championships.
Skoda came to the try outs and impressed head coach van Druenen with her positioning, knowledge and speed. “Abby is the kind of player I was looking for that will bring some maturity to our roster. We have a very talented but also young team and it was fundamental for me to find a player with Abby’s knowledge and experience. She is fit and I liked her style of play and choices during the try out, I think she will become fundamental for us to achieve our goals this season.”
Tracy Rymph, plays soccer at Michigan State University Club Team, where she was the captain and became the 2012 NIRSA NCCS Champions. Coach Sid’s reaction about the signing of Rymph: “Tracy is a physically strong player that can play up top and center midfield. She came to the try out and her work ethic was great, so was her first touch on the ball and shot. I think she can become an important player on our roster and her height and strength can definitely be an advantage with set pieces.”
Erika Kay, from Wooster College, is a hard working striker that scored 18 goals and had 8 assists in 59 games for her college. Kay was awarded the 2012 NCAC offensive player of the year and made the 2012 second team all region team. Coach Sid’s reaction on Kay’s signing “The first think I noticed about Erika was her terrific work ethic, something you don’t see very often from a striker. Having someone up top that works that hard, can be a great way for us to steal the ball back on our opponents half, close to their goal, creating immediate danger. She also has good speed and a strong shot. I am happy she accepted the invitation to play for us.”
The Dayton Dutch Lions W-League team will play their first regular season game on the 25th of May at Beavercreek High School against the Charlotte Lady Eagles. On May 18 and 19 the club will host the 2013 DDL Women’s Cup at Beavercreek High School, with the participation of the Toronto Lady Lynx, Ohio Galaxies and the Cincinnati Lady Saints.
