Coach Bal raising bar after first week's pre season
Dayton, April 6 2013 - Head Coach Patrick Bal commented today on the first week of pre season of the Dayton Dutch Lions Fc Men's pro team: "it was a good first week. After the medicals and a team dinner (at Franco's) we have had eight practices and two scrimmages. With twelve players returning from last year you can see most players already know each other, both on and off the field. The new additions certainly fit in well and we see good chemistry already although we are still missing our three Dutch players that will arrive soon. The first week was mainly used to get fit without getting injuries, give everyone some playing minutes and explain how we want to play this year. The two games we played against local universities (Ohio State and Cedarville University) had two good second halves where we dominated and played as we want to play: good possession building up from the back and pressure when we don't have the ball. We had some very good attacks and nice goals and created several scoring chances. With our Dutch players still arriving and our two main defenders still recovering from (light) injuries I am excited to raise the bar gradually this week."
We will have a new report on week 2 next week. The Dayton Dutch Lions FC opens the 2013 season April 20 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. All games (home and away) are broadcasted live on the internet through http://www.uslnation.com.
