Dayton, April 27 2013 - Dayton Dutch Lions FC has appointed Sid van Druenen as the new Technical Manager of the club. This means he will be in charge of all soccer operations in Dayton and part of the management team of the club.
Background
Sid van Druenen has been a youth coach for 11 years, at all ages and levels. Former clubs include CD Boliqueime, CDR Quarteirense, Louletano DC and SL Benfica (all in Portugal). Sid has a college degree in Sport Science and holds the prestigious UEFA B coaching license. He has been with the Dayton Dutch Lions FC since November 2011 as youth coach, Assistant Coach W-League team and Head Coach of the USL Super 20's and is currently the Head Coach of the W-League team and also the Women's Program Director.
Sid van Druenen commented on the new position with the club: "I've been working for the Dayton Dutch Lions FC for a year and a half now and since day one I've believed in it's philosophy and potential. As the new Technical Manager I take it on myself to take the club to the next level, meaning a successful, high level and professional youth academy and a competitive Men's and Women's team. The development of players and the success of youth programs like the USL super Y are also part of that process. I also want to create a closer relationship with the local colleges, high schools and other soccer clubs. This is a great opportunity and challenge for me and I want to thank the club for the opportunities it has given me in the last 18 months."
President Mike Mossel had this to say on the appointment of Sid: "I am very pleased that Sid is going to play a key role in further developing our club to the next level. I am impressed with Sid's work on how he has built a strong Women's Program this year. He has been building good relationships with local schools, clubs and coaches and has a clear view on where he wants to take our club. He has brought in very competent people (like Catherine Gordon) to assist with his work and he has been very composed and focused which confirms to me that he will do well on the whole soccer operations side and not just the Women's team."
Sid van Druenen is taken over the Technical Manager position from Patrick Bal, who is fully focusing on his position as Head Coach of the Men's Pro team.
