PHOENIX, Arizona – The Dayton Dutch Lions FC faced the Phoenix FC Wolves on Friday night at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University. Despite both teams creating several opportunities the game finished in a scoreless draw. The Dutch Lions FC have completed the season series with Phoenix with this draw and a previous victory at home. The result runs Dayton’s streak of unbeaten games to seven.

Phoenix came out strong in the opening minutes looking for the lead and the Lions were lucky that Phoenix missed two chances, the biggest one being a header that went just inches next to the post. Phoenix did not led the Lions build up from the back and had immediate pressure on them. Perhaps also due to the heat the Lions struggled to  keep possession. However had the best scoring opportunity the first half when Gibson Bardsley went one on one with the goalie in the box but his outside foot shot went just next to goal leaving the score 0-0 at the half.

In the 2nd half the Lions played a lot better with better passing the ball around and coming into the final third of the field. The best chances came at the end for Klaasse and Bardsley. Williams picked up another shutout and was solid again. Dayton will travel to Los Angeles to play the Blues on Sunday to complete a road trip out west. The Dutch Lions return home to face the Charlotte Eagles on June 28.
