DDL Women’s team continues in first place

The Dayton Dutch Lions Women's team, competing in the USL W-League, got another good result in the strong Southeastern conference. With a 0-0 tie in Charlotte, against the Lady Eagles, last night (Friday July 5th). With this result the team continues in 1st place and has everything in their own hands to win the conference and qualify for playoffs.

Head coach Sid van Druenen, after the game "We played to win today and had some good opportunities to do so, but so did Charlotte... I think that the tie is the best score for today's game. I am happy with the way we played and that we continue to have a gap between us and Charlotte and leave here tonight still in 1st place."

Playing another game today (Saturday July 6th) at 7.30pm in Atlanta, these are the three possible outcomes:

- Win the game and the Lady Lions are Conference Champions and get to host the Southeastern conference playoffs, where they would host the 2nd place team in the league.

- A tie would mean that the Lady Lions would guarantee a spot in the conference playoffs, without knowing if the team would host the playoffs or have to travel.

- A loss would still keep the Lady Lions in first place but with only one point ahead on number 2 and 2 points ahead on number 3 and 4. This scenario would make the last home game against VSI Tampa Bay a game with a lot on stake!!

Coach Sid "Whatever happens today we will go in to the last game of the season as the leader of the Southeastern conference and this is a great achievement for the club.  It is great to work with this group of girls, there is a lot of talent and I know that who ever I put out there they will work their hardest and get the job done. This game against Atlanta is going to be a hard one, not only because it's a really good team but also because we played a game yesterday where we had to fight hard for the full 90 minutes. I hope the girls got a good night sleep! But the mission is clear, we always play to win!"

After this road trip the Lady Lions return home on July 14 to play VSI Tampa Bay. Kick off is set for 4.00pm.
