New HDL FC soccer facility being built
The Houston Dutch Lions FC have started building a new soccer complex in the Woodlands right off the I45. The complex will have two astro turf fields that were brought in from Holland as well as a clubhouse with seats in front of it, locker rooms and offices. The fields are expected to be ready in September, the whole complex towards December/January. The complex will give the Dutch Lions FC a great boost in the local soccer scene. Besides the Youth Academy teams the club is also to host the PDL games at the new facility next year. The new facility is made possible by new owner Martin Kroeze, who runs the HDL FC organization with his two sons Robbert and Dennis Kroeze.
PDL team finishes fourth in strong Division
The Houston Dutch Lions FC PDL team finished the 2013 season 5th in a strong Mid South Division with long time powerhouses Austin Aztex and Laredo Heat. Although the Lions were off to a promising start they had a bad run in the middle of the season. Head Coach for the team was Hans van Arum, former professional player for Premier League club Vitesse Arnhem and Head Coach for Arnhem Vitesse and AGOVV.
HDL FC and Cor van Hoeven part ways
The Houston Dutch Lions FC and Cor van Hoeven have recently agreed to part ways and pursuing different paths. Cor initially started as Technical Manager in Dayton in January 2011 but moved to Texas after 8 months to start up the 2nd Dutch Lions franchise. The Dutch Lions FC organization likes to thank Cor van Hoeven for his efforts and wishes him all the best.
