Lady Dutch Lions Grab All-Ohio Honors

W-League Stars Garnered Multiple 2013 Awards

The Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association recently announced the list of female players named to its 2013 All-Ohio Division I Team. Four of the sixteen honorees were members of the Dayton Dutch Lions USL W-League roster in 2013. Katy Dolesh, Juliana Libertin, Brooke McCurdy, and Sarah Senoyuit helped lead the Dutch Lions to a Southeastern Conference regular season championship prior to stellar performances in their senior years at their respective universities.

“It does not surprise me that these players made the All-Ohio First Team. Every one of them played a key role in our success in the W-League last year. Brooke and Sarah were leaders in our defense, and Juliana and Katy were constant threats for our opponents,” remarked Sid van Druenen, who recently accepted the head coaching job for the Dutch Lions USL PRO side after spending a year at the helm of the women’s team.

After scoring three goals in nine matches as a midfielder for the Dutch Lions, Katy Dolesh spent the fall as a captain of the Miami University women’s soccer team. She led the Redhawks with seven goals and also tallied two assists. Before being named to the OCSA All-Ohio Team, Dolesh was selected to the All-MAC First Team and All-Great Lakes Second team.

Brooke McCurdy recorded 80 saves in nine appearances during her senior year for the Wright State University Raiders, posting an impressive 0.88 goals-against average. She notched seven complete shutouts and combined with a teammate for another. She was named to the All-Horizon League First Team and was honored as the Horizon League Goaltender of the Year. McCurdy’s 1.00 GAA and 3 shutouts for the Dutch Lions were among the W-League leaders in 2013.

Sarah Senoyuit and Juliana Libertin were teammates with the Dutch Lions and co-captains for the University of Dayton. Senoyuit anchored the defense for a UD Flyers squad that held opponents scoreless for a school-record of six consecutive matches. She led the Flyers in minutes played and was recognized as the Atlantic 10 Defensive player of the year in addition to being named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team. Libertin was the NSCAA active leader in assists prior to finishing her collegiate career with a total of 43. She also led the W-League with 9 assists in 2013. The Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year was also named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team and A-10 All-Championship Team.

Van Druenen added, “I want to congratulate every single one of them on this great achievement and wish them success with their future professional lives.”
