Dutch Lions add Clemens and Kissinger

DAYTON, OHFebruary 26, 2014 – The Dayton Dutch Lions (USL PRO) are proud to announce that midfielders Eric Kissinger and David Clemens will be joining the team for the 2014 season.

 

Kissinger is one of the longest-tenured players in the Dutch Lions organization.

 

“No one knows the club better then Eric does,” Dayton Dutch Lions head coach Sid van Druenen declared.  “He has been here since day one and this is going to be his fifth year playing for our men’s team. His dedication, work ethic, and versatility are amazing and every coach loves having players with his personality on the roster.”

 

The Dayton, OH native made 17 appearances in 2013, totaling 366 minutes played.  He also tallied one assist.

 

“It’s great to be back with the Lions for another year,” Kissinger added. “We’ve shown a lot of improvement from year to year, and I’m looking forward to helping the team return to the playoffs.”

 

The Haverford College (PA) standout was named the ISN Star of Coaching in November 2013 as recognition for  his exemplary work as a teacher and coach with the  Miami Valley School and as a staff member in the Dutch Lions Academy.  Kissinger can be found on Twitter @ekiss11 and will wear number 11 for the Dutch Lions.

 

Dayton also welcomes Clemens, a new signing out of Virginia Tech.

“We are very excited to get David into our squad,” van Druenen added. “He has many intangibles to make a top player.  He has great potential, but still possesses the ability to contribute now. He is very technical and has quick feet, distributes the ball well, and links well with players around him.”

 

The Ballston Lake, NY native  was a Preseason All-ACC selection for the Hokies in addition to serving as captain for for PDL side FC Tucson, where led the team in goals and assists.  FC Tucson made quite a run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with Clemens at the helm, defeating the San Antonio Scorpions in the second round to set up a matchup with MLS side Houston Dynamo.

 

“I’m really excited to start get started at preseason with my new club,” Clemens concluded. “Signing my first contract out of school was a dream come true, and I look forward to competing for playing time and to continue my career.”

    DDL Soccer Complex

    All practices and games of the Dayton Dutch Lions FC Men’s team (USL PDL) and Women’s team (USL W-League) will be at the Dayton Dutch Lions FC Soccer Complex in West Carrollton. The stadium seats 3500 people. In 2014 the Dayton Dutch Lions FC and Dayton Outpatient Center (DOC) installed an new artificial turf field in the stadium. DOC Stadium was opened in May 2014 when former 2x “FIFA Best Player in the World” Ruud Gullit kicked off the game against LA Galaxy II in the USL PRO League.
