DDL FC opens 2014 season against NY Red Bulls

DAYTON, OH - March 29, 2014 - After a great "meet and greet" on Thursday evening attended by over 300 people, the Dayton Dutch Lions FC professional team left this morning for their first game for the 2014 USL PRO season. They will face the reserve squad for the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, March 30 at 6 pm EST.

The Dublin Pub will host the game viewing party in downtown Dayton. The game will also be streamed live on http://www.newyorkredbulls.com/live.

"Starting off the season in the Red Bull Arena, one of the top soccer atmospheres in the U.S., is very exciting," Dutch Lions FC Head Coach Sid van Druenen commented. "Despite some injuries, I think the team is ready to put down a solid performance and I'm confident that we will bring the three points back to Dayton."

New to the 2014 season is the partnership with the Columbus Crew. Besides the five players already on loan from Crew, Coach van Druenen will have Aaron Schoenfeld and Fifi Baiden joining the Dutch Lions for the trip because of preseason injuries on the Dayton squad.

The Dayton Dutch Lions are back on the road to play the Charlotte Eagles next week before the home opener against the Rochester Rhinos on April 11 at Beavercreek High School.
