Dayton, OH, April 10 2014. – The Dayton Dutch Lions FC will host the Rochester Rhinos on Friday night. This will be the home opener for the Dayton Dutch Lions FC after playing away for the first two games of the 2014 USL PRO season. Kick-off is set for 7:00pm ET and the game will be played at Beavercreek High School, with all the action also available live on the club’s YouTube channel.
“We want to start our 2014 home campaign with a win,” said Head Coach Sid van Druenen. “After a good win in Charlotte last week the boys are ready to put together a solid performance this Friday and take the 3 points.”
Dayton came from a win on the road the past weekend, 1-0 against the Charlotte Eagles. A well fought battle with defender Brock Granger scoring his first professional goal and the only goal of the game. This goal earned Granger a spot in the USL team of the week together with Goalkeeper Matt Williams that had some very important saves to earn the shutout for the Lions.
“It was a great game to watch for the neutral supporter,” van Druenen added. “Both teams tried to play attacking soccer and that created many chances for both teams, off course we are happy that we took the win and the focus now is on Friday’s game versus Rochester.”
Friday’s game will be the 2nd game of the new USL PRO season for the Rhinos that come of a 3-1 loss against Orlando City and will be looking for a better result against Dayton. The Rhinos roster has a lot of new faces including a player that spend pre season with Dayon’s affiliate, the Columbus Crew, centre back Patrick Slogic.
