Dayton Dutch Lions FC host 2013 regular season Champion

Dayton, OH, April 23 2014 – The Dayton Dutch Lions FC (2-1-1) will host last season’s regular season Champions, the Richmond Kickers (1-1-2), at Beavercreek High School, this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The Lions are seeking revenge after a close 1-0 loss in the playoffs last year in Richmond. The game can be followed live on DDL’s YouTube page.

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC won their second game of the season last week against Harrisburg City Islanders (1-0). It was their first ever win in Harrisburg in the club’s 4 year history in the USL PRO League. Crew forward Aaron Schoenfeld scored the only goal through a PK in the 41st minute. The victory gives the Lions the third place in the League and Aaron Schoenfeld and goalkeeper Matt Williams got selected for the USL PRO team of the week.

The Richmond Kickers are in 6th place in the League and come of a tie at home (2-2) against the Pittsburg Riverhounds, putting together a strong performance after trailing by two goals. A player to watch this weekend will be George Davis IV, as he played for the Dayton Dutch Lions FC in the two inaugural USL seasons.

“I am excited about this game, the team is confident after a good win on the road and it will be a great challenge to host last season’s regular champion,” said Head Coach Sid van Druenen “I expect a quality game and again the 3 points will be our goal.”

After this game Dayton Dutch Lions FC will play another home game at Beavercreek High School against the Charleston Battery on May 4th at 7.00pm. Visit the Dayton Dutch Lions FC website for tickets and more information at www.daytondutchlionsfc.com.
