Dayton Dutch Lions FC seeks first home win

Dayton, OH, May 2 2014 – The Dayton Dutch Lions FC (2-1-2) will host Charleston Battery (0-4-2), at Beavercreek High School, this Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. The Lions are looking for a better result after a loss last weekend versus the Richmond Kickers. The game can be seen live on the Dayton Dutch Lions FC YouTube page.

The Lions come from a tough loss (5-1) at home, despite the early 1-0 lead with a goal from Eli Garner. A red card at the start of the 2nd half, for Shane Smith, forced the team to play with a man down against last year’s regular season champions resulting in a 5-1 loss after the team only gave up 1 goal in the previous three matches.

Sunday the team is facing the Charleston Battery. The Battery is in 13th place in the League right now after a 0-0 tie against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and a 1-0 loss against the Rochester Rhinos last weekend. The team from Charleston is still looking for its first victory after 4 ties and 2 losses in their first 6 games of the 2014 USL PRO season.

When asked about the game Head Coach Sid van Druenen said, “It is always hard to play the Charleston Battery but it is time for us to put down a solid performance at home and show the fans that last week result was a one time thing. The team has been working hard this week and I feel confident that we will get a good result this weekend.”

Next week the Dayton Dutch Lions FC will have their first home game at the new D.O.C. Stadium in West Carrollton on Saturday May 10th at 7.00pm. Don’t forget two times “Best Soccer Player in the World”, Ruud Gullit, will come to watch this game.
