Dayton Dutch Lions News Release -- www.dutchlionsfc.com
Dayton, August 29, 2014 - The Dayton Dutch Lions FC will travel to Orlando to play their final road game of the season. Orlando Lions (17-4-4, 55 points) tops the league in total points, but the Lions (6- 16-4, 22 points) have been very successful on the road (6-5-2) and want to finish their “away campaign” with a winning record. The Orlando Lions looked to make the game against Dayton the Championship game but their loss earlier this week against Wilmington Hammerheads (3-1) has put Sacramento in 2nd place with only 4 points behind them, making the game against Dayton crucial in the race for the regular season title. The first game between the two clubs earlier in the season ended in a 2-0 win for Orlando.
The Dutch Lions FC are coming off a good game (despite the result) against the MLS’s Colorado Rapids Reserves. Coach Matt Weston has the team rallying around each other after taking over the head coaching spot several weeks ago. Weston had this to say about the final road game for his team this season. “We are looking forward to the challenge of facing the top team in the division. Over the last 4 games I have seen so much growth in this team and a confidence in every game that we can take maximum points. Orlando will certainly get the ball down and play and so this should be an excellent game of soccer with both teams looking to play the game the right way. Turning attractive soccer into winning soccer is the formula I'm trying to foster within this group and we are ready to go to Florida to get something from this game.”
The Lions will return home for their final game of the season against Wilmington. The game will be held at DOC stadium at West Carrolton High School at 7 pm. The Lions encourage everyone to come out for their season finale and see the Lions end the season in style.
