Dayton Dutch Lions Open Season against FC London

Dayton, OH May 20, 2015 –The Dayton Dutch Lions FC will begin their 2015 campaign in the PDL Thursday night May 21st at DOC Stadium in West Carrollton.   The Lions will be looking to make their mark again in the PDL after having a strong inaugural season in 2010. The Dayton Dutch Lions FC will play in the Great Lakes division in 2015.

The Lions square off against Great Lakes Division foe Forrest City London, out of London, Ontario, Canada. FC London was established in 2009 and was quickly able to establish dominance, winning the 2012 North American PDL Championship. Under coach Martin Painter, FC London has reached the playoffs in five of the past six years.

Returning to Dayton to coach the Lions is Patrick Bal. Bal took the Lions to the quarterfinals of the 2013 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and qualified for the USL-Pro playoffs. For Bal, he is excited to be back in Dayton as the team finalizes their strategy for this weeks game.

“We had a very short preseason with me arriving late due to my teams in the Netherlands. Bruno Lopes and Shane Smith did a good job putting a competitive team together. Our Preseason has been up and down. We try to change the style of play the guys are used to and it takes some time. We’ll always play to win and tomorrow we will find out if we learned fast enough. The boys have been training great and there is a great atmosphere. I’m very much looking forward to my return in the stadium and hope to see a lot of fans in orange!”

Gates at DOC Stadium will open an hour before kickoff at 6:30PM. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids under 12. DOC Stadium can be found at West Carrollton High School. 5833 Student St., Dayton, OH, 45449
