Dayton Lady Dutch Lions Look to Continue Unbeaten Streak
Dayton, OH –May 29 2015– The Dayton Lady Dutch Lions return home to DOC Stadium for their third home game of the W-League Season. The Lions have won all three games so far this season, putting them in first place with nine points. Last week the ladies won on the road, defeating the Carolina Elite Cobras 1-0 behind a Michele Christy game winner in the 57th minute.
After receiving a long ball into the box, Christy’s first shot attempt was blocked, but after a missed clearance attempt, she was able to get a foot of her own on the ball, placing it just passed the stretched arms of the Cobras keeper. For her efforts in scoring the game winner, Christy was honored with a spot on the W-League Team of the Week, alongside teammate Vanessa Gilles who received honorable mention for TOTW.
Facing the Carolina Elite Cobras for the second time in a week this Saturday May 30th, will surely test the Lions. Under the guidance of Andrew Hyslop, who is in his first year as head coach, the Elite Cobras will look to stay a formidable opponent in the W-League, after making the semi-finals of the playoffs in 2013. The Cobras currently sit fourth in the Southeastern Conference with one point from three matches.
After a greatly successful beginning to the season, Dayton Dutch Lions FC head coach Gavin Macleod had this to say about the upcoming match.
“Its been a good start to the season and we’ve been really happy how the teams been able to produce despite the short time we’ve had together. The main goal right now is to not get complacent even after three victories. We are looking forward to a tough challenge versus Carolina this weekend. We played them last week and we are expecting them to show up with a squad that is fully motivated to get a win.”
Gates at DOC Stadium will open an hour before kickoff at 6:30PM. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids under 12. DOC Stadium can be found at West Carrollton High School. 5833 Student St., Dayton, OH, 45449
