van Druenen returns to DDL
Dayton Dutch Lions FC is proud to announce the return of Sid van Druenen as the 2015/16 Director of Soccer Operations and PDL Head Coach. We believe that Sid’s tenure with the organization will mesh well with the direction of the organization as a whole while continuing to enhance the development of our players and coaches.
Sid joined the club in November 2011 and was appointed as a youth academy coach. In 2012, Sid became the Academy Program Director and the Assistant Coach for the Women’s Professional Team. Maintaining the Academy Program Director role in 2013 Sid also prevailed as the Women’s Head Coach taking the title for the Women’s team as “Division Champions”. Sid was also nominated for “Coach of the Year” and received “Organization of the Year” by the league. Sid became the USL Pro Coach in 2014 while stepping into the role of Technical Director. Sid returned to us a bit more experienced and filled with some fantastic strategies for the upcoming year, and we are excited about this opportunity for Sid.
Sid responded to the renewal of his position with the following statement: “I am very happy to return to the Dayton Dutch Lions, a club and culture that I know well. The club has given me good opportunities to grow professionally and as a person in the three years I have been here before. A lot has happened in my personal life in the last few months and now that that is all behind me I am happy to be able to focus again on the job I love and help develop this club and its players further.”
We believe that Sid exemplifies the path in which the Dayton Dutch Lions FC paves for our coaches and our academy members as they develop their respected and professional roles on and off the field. We also believe that Sid will continue to drive the Dutch Philosophy as intended while continuously enhancing the developmental, tactical, and strategically game play throughout our academy for years to come. Please welcome Sid back with open arms as we kick off what has already proven to be the start of an incredible year.
