Kershaw, Jones & Dunne join PDL team

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC is excited to announce three more players for the 2016 PDL season. Midfielders, Christian Kershaw, from Marshall University, Lewis Dunne, from Urbana University and Goalkeeper Nathan Jones also from Urbana University.

Christian KershawKershaw, is a 5-year DC United Academy starter, has practiced with the first team and played with the reserves vs. Montreal Impact. At Marshall University, Kershaw started every game as a freshman and sophomore and was named to the Conference All-Freshman team in 2014. Head Coach, Sid van Druenen, had the following to say about Kershaw joining the team for the 2016 PDL season, “I expect Christian to fit our playing style perfectly as he was raised in the DC United Soccer Academy, under the helm of former DDLFC coach, Sonny Silooy. This is a player that understands the role and responsibilities of the modern #6, an important position for the way we want to play.”

Midfielder Lewis Dunne and Goalkeeper Nathan Jones join the 2016 PDL roster after aLewis Dunne very successful season with the Urbana Blue Knights. Dunne, from England, scored 6 goals and added 4 assists in 20 games for a total of 20 points in his junior season, earning D2CAA All Atlantic Region First Team, All-MEC Second Team and OSCA All-Ohio First Team. “I’ve been a fan of Lewis as a player since the first time I saw him”, said van Druenen, “He is a scoring threat as a center midfielder with great vision and passing skills.”

Nathan JonesJones, from Wales, has been the starting goalkeeper for the Blue Knights for the past three seasons earning several awards; NSCAA Second Team All-Atlantic Region and MEC All-Freshman team in 2013 and D2CAA All Atlantic Region First Team, OSCAA All-Ohio First Team and All-MEC first team in 2015. “I am very excited and honored to be given the chance to play for the Dayton Dutch Lions team and organization”, said Jones, “I hope to make a big impact on the team and hopefully we can compete and win our division and go on to compete for the PDL National Championship.”
