Amankona on Pro Trial

The Dayton Dutch Lions are pleased to have another player reaching to make the next level as we continue to be a "Gateway to Professional Soccer".

Dayton Dutch Lion, Amass Amankona, who played 12 matches for the club this summer, just finished his PDL season with the OKC Energy’s U23 team.  He was listed  in the Top 20 for the USL PDL "Top Prospect" list the entire season, being as high as #2 for several weeks.  This led to him being sought out by OKC Energy SC.

Amankona left for Oklahoma on July 11th for a tryout with the OKC Energy USL Pro team. Upon his arrival, he was assigned to the U23 squad for a ten day tryout and to bolster the squad's playoff run.

Amass appeared in two games for the Energy, totaling 123 minutes played. He debuted for OKC in their regular season finale against Texas United, playing 64 minutes in a 1-0 victory. In the Energy’s opening round playoff game against FC Miami City, Amass recorded 59 minutes played and one shot on goal, but OKC was eliminated with a 1-0 loss.

OKC’s U23 team finished the 2017 PDL season with a 12-2-1 record. Amankona will now hope to join their USL Pro team that currently sits in 10th place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 6-8-4. They only trail the 8th and final playoff spot, held by the Seattle Sounders FC 2, by one point.

The Dayton Dutch Lions would like to wish Amass the best of luck in making the OKC Energy’s roster and helping them reach the USL playoffs.
