SCHWIEN ADDED TO ACADEMY COACHING STAFF

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC is proud to announce the hiring of John Schwien as an Academy Coach for the 2018 Spring season.  John will be the head coach for the U16 Boys and U18 Boys II squads.  Schwien is in his final semester at Cedarville University and will join the club immediately.

DDL FC is pleased to welcome back a former player as John was a starting midfielder for the 2016 Mens PDL team. Coach John has coached in the FC Brandywine Soccer Club and Penn Fusion Soccer Academy in his home state of Pennsylvania.  He also has been a camp counselor for Buxmont Torch Soccer, Cedarville University and Dayton Dutch Lions.  He started his licensing recently and currently holds the USSF  F National Soccer License.

The club's General Manager, Ric Campbell,  is extremely excited to add Coach John to the Orange family and not just for his coaching ability.

"Coach John is a young coach and an excellent player, but more importantly he is a young man that will be an outstanding mentor for our youth players.  All of our players who want to reach the next level will have a great example in John," said Campbell.

John was a 3-year starter for Cedarville University starting  in all 54 matches he played....was named to the NCCAA All-America team in his junior and senior years....earned spots on the All-Ohio Division II First Team, NCCAA Midwest Region First Team, and G-MAC First Team in 2016 and 2017 as well.  He also excelled in the classroom as a Dean's List student earning All-Academic honors at the conference, state and regional levels.

In high school, he was a four-year varsity letter winner at Garnet Valley High School.....two-time all-conference and all-county performer.....led team in goals and assists as a senior.....selected to the Central League All-Star Team his final year.  He played club for Penn Fusion 95 and was a member of two state championships.

"When you see all that Coach John has accomplished both on and off the field, you realize his ability to share with our players what it takes to succeed in both high school and college," added Campell. "I believe his commitment to excellence will become evident in his coaching and training of the boys."
