Match Day #9 Preview

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC (5-1-2) will host the Cincinnati Dutch Lions (1-2-3) on Saturday, June 23 at the DOC Stadium on the campus of West Carrollton High School.  This will be the first of three meetings this season with Dayton headed south for the other two matches in July.

Dayton currently is in first place of the Great Lakes Division and have had a week of rest after three matches against the boys up North.  The beat the Michigan Bucks for the second time on the road and then took a point off of Lansing United away as well.

"I have said it all year and I do not see it changing ~ each match in our division it is important to get points and the game will be hard fought. I expect that from Cincinnati.  They have been getting points in their most recent matches.  They need three points and will be working hard to get them off us," said Head Coach Dan Griest. "We are coming

"Last week was successful for us and I believe the lads be ready to perform at a high level."

Dayton is led by Tate Robertson and Jackson Dietrich, each scoring five goals on the season. Robertson has also tallied five assists to lead the team. Goalkeeper Alexander Popovich has been the recent starter for Dayton, allowing two goals in his three games played.  The defense has been playing very well.

Following an 0-2-0 start, CDLFC have put together a four-game unbeaten streak with a win and three ties. Leading the team in goals scored, Austin Smythe has scored all three of his goals on the season in the last three games for CDLFC. Wesley Storm has been the starting goalkeeper for CDLFC during the unbeaten streak which has included two shutouts and three goals allowed.

Overall, the two Dutch Lions franchises have played fairly even matches. In five total meetings, the record is 1-1-3 (W-L-D) between the two. Goals scored and conceded is six apiece.

Kickoff is 7:00pm. Tickets are $10 adults and $6 youth, military and veterans at the gate (5 and under free).  Specially priced discounted tickets are available for groups of 12 or more by calling the ticket office at 937 530 2123.
