Preview – Match Day #13

Preview – Match Day #13

The Dayton Dutch Lions will return to Northern Kentucky University soccer stadium to play the biggest match of the season and arguably the biggest between DDL FC and Cincinnati Dutch Lions in the history of the clubs.

On Friday July 13, Cincinnati will host DDL FC for a 7:00pm kickoff. This will be the third match of the season with each club getting a win in the previous two matches. Cincinnati won 2-0 on June 23 and DDL FC won on the road 1-0  just nine days ago,  July 3.

The match-up consists of first place DDL FC and second place Cincinnati. For the majority of the season, Dayton has occupied the top spot in the Great Lakes Division and a top-five ranking in the Central Conference. A win on Match Day #13 clinches the Great Lakes Division title for DDL FC.

The Lions have had a short break, not having a match since their last outing with Cincinnati.  This has given them a nice rest and allowed some tired legs and injury issues time to recuperate. The Lions continue to be led offensively by Tate Robertson (Springfield,OH/Bowling Green) as he is the team leader in shots, points, goals, and assists. His strong play has been recognized by the league as Robertson has climbed the PDL Top Prospects list and now sits at 32nd best prospect in the League.

Defensively, the Lions only allows 1.00 goals per game and is marshalled by team captain, Jake Stovall (Centerville, OH/Puerto Rico FC). Stovall is recipient of back-to-back Central Conference Team of the Week honors as well as a spot on the PDL Team of the Week for his most recent contributions.
