Dayton, March 19, 2019 - Dayton Dutch Lions FC is very pleased to announce the return of one of its leaders for the 2019 season with the signing of Jackson Dietrich.
Dietrich scored six goals and added six assists for the Lions in their successful 2018 campaign. He also received a 2018 USL All Central Conference Honorable Mention for his performance. He is currently playing for Wright State University in Dayton. In his first year at WSU he was awarded Horizon League's Freshman of the Year. In 2018 (13-3-3 record) Dietrich started 17 games for the Raiders, scoring five goals and twelve assists, earning him an All Conference selection.
Dayton Dutch Lions FC interviewed Dietrich:
DDL FC: Where are you originally from?
JD: I am originally from Bremen (Germany), but my hometown is Las Vegas.
DDL FC: What colleges/clubs have you played for?
JD: I have played club soccer in Germany for Werder Bremen and FC Oberneuland, and Las Vegas Sports Academy (winning 4 State Championships) in the USA. I then played college for Wright State University in Dayton.
DDL FC: What position(s) do you (prefer) to play?
JD: I prefer to play midfield, either defensive as a six or 8 or offense as a 10.
DDL FC: What have been the highlights of your soccer career?
JD: There were a few highlights. When I was awarded “Gatorade player of the year” in Nevada in 2014) I was very pleased. But also, being selected “Freshman of the Year” in the Horizon League in 2015, First Team Horizon and 2ndmost assists in Division 1 soccer in 2018.
DDL FC: Why did you choose to play for DDL FC the upcoming season?
JD: I chose to play at DDL FC because we had a very successful year in 2018 and I believe we can do even better this year.
DDL FC: What are your expectations for the 2019 season?
JD: USL League 2 champions

Come see Jackson Dietrich in action this season at DOC Stadium in West Carrollton. The opening game is May 18 with a double header with the Women’s team, when the Men play Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC in their first of four derby’s in 2019. The game starts at 7pm while the Women kick off at 4pm!
