Dayton, April 30, 2019
Dayton Dutch Lions FC is very excited to announce that Tate Robertson is returning to the 2019 Men’s team. Robertson was elected in the USL PDL Best XI for the 2018 season as the only player from the Great Lakes Conference. He scored 6 goals and added 7 assists in the 2018 season. Robertson was the team captain in 2018 for Bowling Green State University.
Dayton Dutch Lions FC interviewed Tate Robertson.
DDL FC: Where are you originally from?
TR: I am originally from Springfield in Ohio.
DDL FC: What colleges/clubs have you played for?
TR: I played for Bowling Green State University and I played club soccer for Coach Dan Griest at Ohio Galaxies.
DDL FC: What position(s) do you (prefer) to play?
TR: I actually like to play anywhere attacking, but mostly the 9 or 10 position specifically.
DDL FC: What have been the highlights of your soccer career?
TR: Well one very recent highlight was winning the Great Lakes Conference Championship last year with Dayton Dutch Lions FC.
DDL FC: Why did you choose to play for DDL FC the upcoming season?
TR: Playing for Coach Dan Griest made it an easier decision for me, he seems to get the most out of his players and certainly the most out of me. We have a very strong relationship on and off the field.
DDL FC: What are your expectations for the 2019 season?
TR: Repeat as Conference Champions and to win everything we possibly can.
Head Coach Dan Griest commented on Tate Robertson’s signing:
"Tate is a proven commodity in this League, having garnered USL League II Best XI honors last season, so we are extremely excited to get him back for us this summer to help us on our quest to repeat as Great Lakes Division Champions. I fully expect him to use this summer as a springboard onward to higher rungs in the U.S. Soccer ladder. His experience at this level should provide tremendous leadership for our young and hungry group, and his quickness, vision, and ability to create in the final third should pay huge dividends for us in the final third as we look to play exciting attacking soccer. We could not be more thrilled to have him back for another three months with us and I look forward to another huge summer from him”.
