Men’s team travel to Erie fur US Open Cup game

Dayton Dutch Lions FC’s Men’s team is traveling to Erie (Pennsylvania) today to play Erie Commodores FC (NPSL) on May 8 in the first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The game starts at 7pm @McConnell Family Stadium (Gannon University).The Lions earned a spot in the prestigious US tournament - featuring 84 teams - thanks to winning the USL PDL Conference Championship last year. Erie Commodores has won the NPSL Great Lakes Conference Championship both in 2017 and 2018. 

Head Coach commented on the upcoming game: “I am extremely excited for the boys to have the opportunity to compete in such a tremendous event. While we have only started together as a group late last week, I believe the experience this group brings to the table will certainly pay dividends for us as we look to try to get a result against a quality Erie Commodores side”.

The winner of the game plays at home vs Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (USL Championship) in the second round on either May 14 or May 15.

This weekend DDL FC played their first scrimmage in the pre-season vs FC Columbus (NPSL) @DOC Stadium in West Carrollton. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
