Dayton, May 19, 2019 - The Dayton Dutch Lions FC Men's team (0-0-1) tied Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC (1-0-2) last night 1-1 in their 2019 USL League 2 season opener.
The Lions got on the scoreboard first when Tate Robertson scored in the 32nd minute. Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC was awarded a penalty kick in the 36th minute and evened the score 1-1. Two red cards (Robertson and Storm) at the end of the first half saw both teams playing with 10 men.
Head Coach Dan Griest had this to say on the game: "Obviously, a red card in the first half and playing 10v10 is going to change a bit of the strategy for both teams. I thought we created two or three very good chances throughout the 2nd half that we could have put away. It is a bit disappointing not to bury one of those chances and take the match at home, but we will review and get back to work this week and get a result next week".
The next game is Saturday May 25 when the Men play West Virginia Alliance FC at home at 7pm in another double header with the Women's team (4pm). Thank you Curt Cosenza for the pics.
