Dayton Dutch Lions FC and Ohio Galaxies FC announce partnership

The Ohio Galaxies FC and the Dayton Dutch Lions FC are excited to announce an official partnership between both clubs. The main goal of this partnership is to provide expanded playing opportunities for current and former Ohio Galaxies FC players as well as for college age players in the greater Miami Valley area.

In cooperation both organizations are introducing Women and Men U23 teams that will compete in the Ohio Valley Premier League (OVPL) during the 2021 Summer. The aim of both teams is to provide high level training and playing opportunities during the summer months for these players.

The Ohio Galaxies FC, part of the Beavercreek Soccer Association, serves the development of boys and girls who are interested in playing competitive soccer at the high school level and are also interested in investigating the possibility of playing soccer in college or professionally. The club boasts an impressive record of individual and team accomplishments including State Cup championships and league competition at the regional and national level.

“We strongly support opportunities for our players to have a chance to continue to play competitive soccer in the Miami Valley beyond high school”, said Nancy Shields, Director of Operations for Ohio Galaxies FC. “This opportunity to partner with the Dayton Dutch Lions provides an excellent avenue for our players to transition to an u23 program that is focused and managed in a similar way as Ohio Galaxies FC and will provide a development and playing model to help interested players achieve their goals.”

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC, part of the Dutch Lions Capital Group USA LLC, has a Men’s team competing in the United Soccer Leagues (USL2), the fourth tier in the USA as well as a Women's team competing in the Women's Professional Soccer League (WPSL), the second tier in US Soccer for Women. Both teams play at the highest adult amateur level in the country.

“I firmly believe that this partnership will create a true development pathway for Dayton’s top talent”, said Dayton Dutch Lions FC Technical Director, Sid van Druenen, “DDL will get a strong youth connection and increase the local player pool for its adult teams while Ohio Galaxies FC will provide a true path for youth players that want to continue playing after they graduate from High School”.

Starting in May of 2021, the Women and Men OVPL teams will compete as the Ohio Galaxies Dutch Lions FC and will train and play at DOC Stadium, in West Carrollton OH. The Women’s OVPL team will be coached by current Alter High School and Ohio Galaxies FC Head Coach, Javier Iriart while the Men’s OVPL team will be coached by Wright State University and USL League 2 Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach, Arturo Rodriguez.
