Dayton Dutch Lions FC search for the first victory of the young USL League Two season when the South Bend Lions visit DOC on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 PM as the second part of a double-header that also features a Women’s Premier League Soccer contest.
The Dutch Lions FC failed to earn a result in the first two matches of the season, falling to Kings Hammer FC in stoppage time and coming up short against a flowing Toledo Villa FC side.
South Bend’s brand of Lions is seeking its first victory as a USL2 team. The expansion club dropped its season opener on the road at Kalamazoo FC.
This will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs. The one that gets a result will move to within striking distance of the top of the USL2 Central Conference standings. The other remains as the only team in the conference yet to earn a point.
Dutch Lions FC forward Vincent Stans has been Dayton’s statistical standout so far. The only member of the team to play every minute of both games has tallied 2 goals and 1 assist, both one off the pace of USL2 league leaders.
Expect to see a rotated game day roster for Dayton, as Head Coach Sid van Druenen searches for the most effective combination of players and provides some rest after a midweek road trip.
