Dayton Dutch Lions FC hosts Kalamazoo FC in USL League Two play on Wednesday evening. Kick-off is slated for 7 PM at DOC Stadium in West Carrollton.
The Dutch Lions FC [0-3-0] search for a first win in a young USL2 season. After battling Kings Hammer FC to the brink in the season opener, Dayton has been on the wrong side of two consecutive lopsided score lines.
“The biggest message is that we can’t dwell on the early bad results and that we focus on improving one game at a time,” said Dutch Lions Head Coach Sid van Drunen. “The guys trained hard today and are ready to show that we are better than our record currently shows.”
Kalamazoo FC [2-0-1] sits atop the USL2 Great Lakes Division standings. The Michigan side came back from a goal deficit to earn a draw against Grand Rapids on Saturday to remain undefeated.
“The level of the league and this conference is strong as always. We will have to put together a solid defensive display for the full 90 minutes, eliminate mistakes, and deal better with the disappointments the game will bring” said Van Druenen. “If we can do that, I give us a good chance to turn things around.”
This will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs in regular season play. Kalamazoo participated in the NPSL prior to announcing the switch to USL2 ahead of the 2021 season.
