A doubleheader at DOC Stadium ended in defeat for the women’s and men’s sides, but provided valuable lessons as the teams move on.
The men’s team nearly completed a remarkable comeback, as two second-half goals from Reo Ichikawa clawed the Dutch Lions back into the game, but they ultimately fell 3-2 to visiting FC Buffalo. Coach Hans Pascoal said after the game, “really disappointed for the result because on the balance of the game, I believe we deserved more.”
Elsewhere, the Lady Dutch Lions fell 6-0 to Columbus Eagles FC. “We are a very young team and learning how to compete each and every game,” said head coach Jimmy Campbell. Ahead for the Lady Dutch Lions is a good opportunity to pick up points in two consecutive games against the winless FC Spirit.
